An island called North Sentinel island is located in the Bay Of Bengal and is a part of India. This island is a home to Sentinelese who have not yet discovered the basic things needed to ensure a healthy lifestyle. Some sources suggest the Sentinelese are unaware of the presence of fire and rely on lightning to keep their wood burning for as long as possible. The population of the island is estimated to be around 50 to 500. We have not been able to make contact with them but from the things we know by monitoring them from boats and helicopters they do not know any means of agriculture.
There have been multiple occasions when we have tried to contact them one such incident occurred in 2006 when two fishermen fell asleep on their boats, and it drifted to the island over night. The tribe attacked the two fishermen and killed them. When a Indian Coastguard helicopter came a few days later to recover the bodies of the fishermen they were also attacked with bows and the helicopter returned. Another such incident dates back to 1880 when the British sailed to North Sentinel Island and captured six Sentinelese four children and an elderly couple, they were taken to nearby British settlements and awarded with gifts so they could go back to their tribe and tell their people about how nicely they were treated so the British could conquer the Island without any bloodshed. However the elderly couple sickened rapidly and died, the children were then sent back to the tribe with huge quantities of gifts.
The last contact made with them was after a tsunami when the Indian navy sent a helicopter to ensure the Sentinelese were not harmed, the helicopter was also shot at with arrows and it returned. After that the Indian government recently passed a law stating that it was banned for anyone from going to the North Sentinel Island.
